Six men, five Chinese nationals and one Singaporean, will be charged in court on September 10, 2024 for their alleged involvement in illegal cyber activities in Singapore, including the possession of personal information and computer hacking tools.

More than 160 Singapore police officers carried out simultaneous raids at several properties across the island, leading to the arrest of six men. They are suspected of being connected to a global syndicate that carries out malicious cyber operations. During the operation, electronic devices, cash and crypto-currency in the amount of 850 thousand US dollars were seized. All five Chinese nationals are charged with breaching the Computer Crime Act 1993, and the Singaporean with complicity.

The suspects had access to hacker groups’ servers, hacking tools and data obtained without permission. Among the items seized were malware management equipment and cash. This indicates the large-scale activity of a cybercriminal network operating from Singapore. Authorities continue to investigate the global syndicate.
