Two suspected administrators of the Bohemia darknet marketplace have been arrested by police in the Netherlands and Ireland.
The Dutch police detained a 20-year-old Briton and a 23-year-old Irishman who are suspected of running the Bohemia darknet marketplace. More than 8 million € in virtual assets were seized during the arrests. Bohemia, which specialized in selling drugs and malware, was created in 2021. As of September 2023, the marketplace was processing around 67,000 transactions for a total of 12 million € every month.
Law enforcement authorities in the Netherlands said the market’s administrators carried out an “exit scam” late last year, misappropriating users’ funds before the site was shut down. Bohemia’s servers have been seized for further investigation.
Darknet marketplace Bohemia has become one of many platforms specializing in the sale of illegal goods such as drugs and malware. It’s part of a global crackdown on cybercrime that has already led to the shutdown of other darknet platforms such as Nemesis and Kingdom Market.
The arrests of the Bohemia administrators are part of a global effort to stop cybercrime. This case highlights the importance of international cooperation to combat illegal activities on the dark web.
