Flying taxis will soon become a reality! The US Federal Civil Aviation Administration (FAA) has officially recognized a new category of aircraft capable of vertical takeoff and landing — electric flying taxis.
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced that it has finalized regulations for the training and certification of pilots for advanced aerial vehicles (AAMs), known as flying taxis. An electric plane that can take off and land vertically could be the first new type of commercial aircraft since the helicopter. The company Joby Aviation has already developed a prototype of a four-seater flying taxi and plans to launch a sharing service in the United Arab Emirates by 2026. The taxi is expected to be able to reach speeds of up to 200 mph, travel up to 100 miles on a single charge and operate at altitudes of more than 10,000 feet. Flying taxis should use more compact and quieter rotors, making them ideal for urban environments.
