Despite the high-profile claims of the hacker group Cl0p, Home Depot denies that its systems were compromised. At the same time, another victim, Marelli, confirmed the attack, but said that its security systems could have prevented the data leak.

What happened The hacker group Cl0p published a list of about 200 companies that were allegedly targeted by the attack. The most famous of them are:

  • Home Depot (Mexico)
  • Auto parts manufacturer Marelli
  • Rackspace Technology (cloud services)
  • Total Wine & More (alcohol retailer)

The situation with Home Depot calls into question the veracity of Cl0p’s claims. Nevertheless, the case demonstrates the need for companies to strengthen their cybersecurity as attacks become increasingly sophisticated. Cl0p is currently looking for new victims, and experts advise companies not to ignore potential threats, even if they are officially denied.
