Casio has been the victim of a massive cyber attack in which attackers gained access to the company’s internal servers and stole confidential information about employees, business partners and customers.

The servers of Casio, a global electronics manufacturer, were compromised in a ransom attack. An investigation conducted in cooperation with external cybersecurity experts confirmed that the attackers took advantage of a phishing email and a vulnerability in the company’s global network. The stolen data included names, email addresses, phone numbers, information about employees, former employees and partners, and customer shipping data. Fortunately, the customer database and credit card information were not affected.

Casio rejected the cybercriminals’ ransom demand and announced that it would restore most of the affected services as soon as their security was ensured. The company has also committed to implementing more stringent cyber security measures, including training employees to recognize cyber threats, as well as strengthening its global IT systems to prevent similar incidents in the future.
