Microsoft has announced the opening of a new artificial intelligence (AI) center in London, led by Mustafa Suleiman, the former co-founder of Google DeepMind, underscoring the company’s strategic investment in the development of advanced language models and their infrastructure.
The move is part of Microsoft’s larger AI strategy and underscores London’s importance as one of the world’s leading centers of AI development and research. Suleiman, co-founder of DeepMind, which was acquired by Google in 2014, has extensive experience in the field of AI. After leaving Google, he co-founded Inflection and joined Microsoft in March of this year.
The new AI center in London will focus on improving language models and developing world-class tools for underlying models. Mustafa Suleiman, who recently joined Microsoft as CEO of Microsoft AI, pointed to the new center’s close collaboration with AI teams at Microsoft and its partners, including OpenAI. Jordan Hoffman, an artificial intelligence scientist and engineer, will lead the new office.
The opening of Microsoft’s AI center in London will not only strengthen the company’s position in the field of artificial intelligence, but also promote innovation and research in this field at a global level, while attracting talent from around the world.
