The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine held a demonstration of FPV drones controlled via a fiber optic cable. The event was attended by representatives of various types of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and drone operators, who actively evaluated the latest technology.
During the presentations, flights of more than a dozen domestic drones were demonstrated. Some of them can carry a payload of up to 3 kg. The main feature of these FPV drones is that they are controlled using fiber optic cables, which makes them immune to enemy radio-electronic countermeasures. “Today we see that domestic manufacturers are ready to quickly adapt to the challenges of modern warfare. The presented sample demonstrated its effectiveness and readiness for mass production,” said Lt. Col. Yefen Tokachenko, Head of the Department of Unmanned Aviation Complexes of the Directorate of Innovations and Development of the Defense-Industrial Complex. Experienced UAV operators of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who saw the demonstration flight, expressed interest in supplying these drones to their units.
FPV drones controlled by fiber optic cables are becoming an important element of modern warfare, especially in the context of active electronic warfare. The enemy also actively uses such technology, which makes the introduction of domestic analogues an important challenge. Some of the announced drones have already passed codification and will soon be put into service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Modern fiber-optic FPV drones are able to significantly increase the effectiveness of combat missions, especially in conditions of aggressive enemy counterattacks. Thanks to such technology, the Armed Forces of Ukraine can strengthen their combat capabilities and gain an advantage on the battlefield.
