The key manufacturers of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) left Ukraine, moving their production abroad, due to restrictions and corruption in the domestic market, noted volunteer Taras Chmut.
At least four major UAV manufacturers that previously operated in Ukraine have moved their production facilities to NATO countries such as the Czech Republic, Poland, and Slovakia. Chmut emphasized that these companies will not return to Ukraine, because production in NATO countries opens up new sales markets and opportunities for them. This technique, created and adapted during a full-scale war with the Russian Federation, is cheaper than Western analogues, but effective, so it will be in great demand. However, due to domestic market restrictions and corruption factors, these manufacturers could not fully work in Ukraine.
After the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, UAV manufacturers became key technology suppliers for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, with the increase in demand in the global market, as well as due to regulatory difficulties and corruption obstacles in Ukraine, these companies were forced to move their production abroad. Chmut noted that if the possibility of export is not opened, even more Ukrainian companies may leave the country, which will lead to the loss of jobs, taxes and experience.
The departure of the largest UAV manufacturers from Ukraine emphasizes the need to reform the domestic market and create favorable conditions for business. Otherwise, the country risks losing not only technological leaders, but also opportunities for the development of domestic production in the field of defense.
