Germany’s federal criminal police have reported the successful shutdown of the servers and arrest of the online marketplace Crimenetwork, which traded in stolen data, drugs and forged documents.
German police have taken down Crimenetwork, the largest German-language crime market. The operation resulted in the seizure of servers and digital assets worth approximately 1 million euros. The site had more than 100,000 registered users and more than 100 sellers. Between 2018 and 2024, the platform’s transactions using Bitcoin and Monero totaled approximately $99 million.
The 29-year-old suspect, believed to be the platform’s technical administrator, is also accused of drug trafficking. He is currently in custody. The organizers of the platform receive a 5% commission on transactions, a monthly subscription fee from sellers and income from advertising. As a result of the operation, a significant amount of user and transaction data was seized, which may lead to further arrests.
Crimenetwork has been operating for over ten years, targeting users from German-speaking countries. Its popularity has increased due to the use of cryptocurrencies to provide anonymity.
