Instabridge confirmed that Nova Launcher will continue to be supported and will work well with current versions of Android, however Instabridge noted that there could be changes coming to Nova Launcher (including ads for the free version).

Instabridge said in a recent blog post that their primary goal is to ensure Nova Launcher continues to function properly while keeping to Nova’s three main tenets: speed, customization, and familiarity. Instabridge stressed that they do not intend to “reinvent” Nova, rather that they will focus on maintaining the app, fixing bugs, and making sure that Nova adapts to how Android continues to evolve.
Instabridge also acknowledged that in order for Nova to receive ongoing support, it will need a viable business model. They are considering various options for a sustainable business model, such as offering premium features and/or advertising within the free version. Instabridge will continue to offer the Nova Prime version of Nova without ads; however, the cost of Nova Prime has increased from 2.99$ to 3.99$ since Instabridge purchased the product.

Some developers have expressed concern about the number of trackers included in the most recent versions of Nova Launcher. Developers have reported finding Facebook Ads and Google AdMob among other trackers. Instabridge stated that the amount of data collected will be limited, will be used for specific purposes, and will be transparent. Additionally, Instabridge stated that user’s personal data will not be sold to third party vendors.
User uncertainty regarding Nova Launcher began in September 2025 after developer Kevin Barry announced his departure from Branch, the previous owner of Nova Launcher. Many speculated that the project would be abandoned or cancelled. Instabridge’s announcement alleviated some of those fears due in large part to Instabridge citing user loyalty as one of the reasons they were interested in acquiring Nova Launcher.
While Nova Launcher is expected to continue to exist into the future, the future of Nova Launcher will depend upon Instabridge’s ability to balance the need for a sustainable business model with the need to maintain the trust of Nova Launcher users. Users can expect that while Nova Launcher will continue to be supported and updated, the free version may include ads as a result of that process.
