Dubai Police are warning residents about a rise in scams involving fake work visas and fraudulent employment offers. Criminals lure victims with promises of guaranteed jobs or fast-tracked visas, pressuring them to pay fees under false pretenses.

According to the Anti-Fraud Centre at the General Department of Criminal Investigation, scammers are offering fake sponsorships and employment deals that have no legal basis. Victims are often promised expedited visa processing or guaranteed employment in exchange for payment.

Criminals typically approach targets through social media platforms and messaging apps. In other cases, they pose as company representatives or recruitment agents, creating urgency and pushing victims to make rushed decisions without verifying the offer.
The warning is part of the #BewareOfFraud initiative, which aims to educate residents about common fraud schemes. These include misleading advertisements, phishing attacks, deepfake manipulation, fake investment opportunities, and deceptive business offers.
Authorities stress that the only legitimate way to obtain a work visa is through official government channels or licensed recruitment agencies. Any external offers claiming to provide “guaranteed” visas should be treated with extreme caution.
Fake work visa scams remain a persistent threat because they exploit people’s desire for quick employment and migration opportunities. Staying vigilant, verifying job offers, and relying solely on official channels are essential to avoiding financial loss.
