As a result of a large-scale international operation, law enforcement agencies have neutralized one of the oldest and most influential darknet drug markets, Archetyp Market. The operation ended with the arrest of the site administrator in Spain and the seizure of assets worth over $9 million

According to Europol, the operation lasted from June 11 to 13, 2025 and covered several countries: Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Romania and Sweden. It included raids against not only the administrator, but also moderators, top sellers and the technical infrastructure of the site.
Archetyp Market emerged in 2020 and quickly grew to become one of the leading online drug marketplaces. At the time of its closure, it had more than 600,000 users and more than 17,000 items, including cocaine, MDMA, amphetamines and fentanyl. Authorities estimate the total transaction volume at €250 million (~$290 million). The platform had long eluded law enforcement, despite previous successful takedowns of other darknets, including Kingdom Markets, Tor2Door and Bohemia.

Europol said Operation Deep Sentinel was the result of years of digital analysis, financial tracking and technical intelligence. Now, a server hijacking and a cyberpunk video warning others have appeared on the Archetyp Market homepage. This is another signal to organized cybercrime groups: anonymity is no guarantee, and any digital trail is the key to an arrest.
