Samsung has announced a global security update in the new version of One UI 8, which will be released with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. The main innovations are: KEEP – a new encryption architecture for AI data, enhanced Knox Matrix capabilities with identity spoofing detection, and Wi-Fi with post-quantum protection based on the certified ML-KEM algorithm.

KEEP (Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection) is a major innovation that changes the approach to protecting personal data in AI functions. Unlike the usual Secure Folder, KEEP creates an isolated encrypted environment for each application that stores the user’s personal data. This is critical for tools such as Smart Suggestions, Moments, or Smart Gallery Search.
Knox Matrix also receives a powerful update. If a forgery or profile manipulation is detected, the system automatically disables the Samsung Account on all connected devices to block the attacker from accessing the cloud or other Galaxy gadgets. In addition, the system will begin to notify the user about outdated security patches.
Another important change is Wi-Fi protection with post-quantum cryptography. Samsung integrates the ML-KEM algorithm, certified by NIST, to protect against future quantum attacks of the “build now – break later” type. Protection when connecting to public points, traffic anonymization and multi-layer routing have also been improved.
With the increasing use of AI in smartphones, privacy and security issues have taken on new significance. AI services process sensitive information every day – from likes to photos, voice commands and locations. Conventional encryption methods do not always meet these challenges, especially in the conditions of future quantum computing.
