An unsecured Elasticsearch cluster that contained 12 million records (8 GB). This data included IP addresses, usernames, locations, feedback messages and model statistics. The cluster was first indexed by search engines on June 3, 2024 and is currently closed.
If attackers gain access to this data, they can track and link the viewing habits of adult content to specific individuals. This can lead to serious privacy issues, social stigmatization and even blackmail. It is recommended that you keep personal information to a minimum on adult sites, use pseudonyms, create separate email addresses, and be wary of phishing. Using a VPN can help mask your IP address and encrypt your internet traffic.
Data leaks are often caused by misconfigurations. To protect data, it is important to implement strong authentication mechanisms, restrict access to the cluster, and consider field-level encryption for sensitive data.
