Motility Software Solutions, a company that serves RV and motorcycle dealers, has confirmed a large-scale data breach following a ransomware attack. The incident affected 766,670 customers whose personal information was compromised.

According to a report to the Maine Attorney General, suspicious activity was detected on August 19, 2025. The investigation revealed that unknown attackers deployed malware that encrypted a portion of the servers. Before the encryption, a number of files containing customers’ personal information were allegedly stolen. The compromised data may have included names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, dates of birth, social security numbers, and driver’s licenses.

Motility Software Solutions provides IT solutions to the vehicle dealership business and has been operating in the United States for many years. The ransomware attack is another example of how even B2B service providers are becoming targets of cybercriminals. After the incident was discovered, the company brought in external cybersecurity experts, restored servers from clean backups, and implemented darknet monitoring to track down the stolen data. While there is no evidence of abuse at the time of publication, the company recommends that customers closely monitor their bank accounts and credit reports.
Motility offered victims free annual credit monitoring and identity recovery through LifeLock. The incident highlights that attacks on midsize companies can affect hundreds of thousands of people. Customer vigilance and additional security measures are becoming key to countering such threats.
