A phishing attack on the IT company Datavant led to the leakage of sensitive data of 11,000 children.
The leak happened via a phishing email. As a result, the attacker gained access to names, addresses, passport data, social security numbers and financial information. This data can be used for fraud, including the theft of medical identification documents. The company has strengthened its protection and offers victims free monitoring of personal data.
Datavant works with more than 70,000 hospitals, sharing 6 million medical records, making it a vulnerable target.
