Dark Storm Attacks BreachForums

The hacker forum BreachForums has gone into hiding again. This time, not because of the FBI, but because of the hacktivist group Dark Storm, which announced a DDoS attack “for fun.” The incident coincided with rumors about the arrest of the famous hacker IntelBroker.

  • On Tuesday morning, a message appeared on the Dark Storm Team channel in Telegram about the hacking of BreachForums, confirmed by the Check-Hostnet service. The site became inaccessible in many countries. In addition, speculation spread on social networks about another FBI intervention, but there was no official information about the seizure. According to ThreatMon, BreachForums has moved to a new domain, and reports of IntelBroker’s arrest remain unconfirmed.

The Dark Storm group, known since 2023 as a pro-Palestinian hacktivist organization, is actively implementing DDoS attacks on critical infrastructure: the Central Bank of Finland, the Hungarian Ministry of Defense, JFK, LAX, Snapchat – and these are just recent examples. In March, they also took down the social network X in protest against Trump and Musk.

BreachForums is one of the most “surviving” darknet forums. After the arrest of the founder Pompompurin in 2023, the project was restarted at least twice – under the leadership of Blaphomet, Shiny Hunters, USDoD. The history of the platform is a continuous struggle between cybercriminals, the FBI and competitors. The current attack fits into a wave of DDoS protests, which Dark Storm positions as political, but researchers note that the group actively monetizes activities in the “DDoS-as-a-Service” style.

The Dark Storm attack is another reminder that even in the dark web, nothing is permanent. At the same time, the information confusion surrounding IntelBroker demonstrates that the truth has yet to be found – somewhere between Telegram, fakes and metadata.
