Millions of H&M customers have been hit by a massive data breach: hackers stole personal information from customers in the UAE and made it public.

The hackers posted the stolen information about H&M customers on a popular data breach forum, where attackers exchange stolen information. According to the hackers, the leak included more than 4 million customer records and 1.4 million address data, totaling 8 GB of files. The stolen database contains:

  • First and last names
  • Email addresses
  • Home addresses
  • Payment details
  • Delivery data

H&M is one of the world’s largest fashion retailers specializing in fast fashion. In the first nine months of 2024, the company earned almost $16 billion. In the UAE, H&M has 20 stores in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and a significant online order volume, making the region vulnerable to cyberattacks.

If the leak is confirmed, it will be a major challenge for H&M, as the company will have to take steps to protect customers and rebuild trust. The incident once again highlights the importance of strong data protection in retail.
