Garmin smartwatch owners are reporting that their devices are suddenly turning off, restarting multiple times, and freezing with a blue triangle on the screen. These models include the Garmin Forerunner 165, 255, 265, 955, 965, Fenix 7, 8, and Instinct 3.

One Reddit user called the issue “disco mode” because his watch started randomly flashing the Garmin logo. Other users noted that the problem could be caused by a recent software update. In response, Garmin recommended that you force the device to turn off and on, as well as sync it with the Garmin Connect or Garmin Express apps. However, some users noted that this advice did not help solve the problem.

Garmin is one of the leaders in the smartwatch market, specializing in devices for sports and active lifestyles. The company regularly releases updates to improve functionality and fix bugs, but there have been cases in the past when updates have caused problems. This situation is reminiscent of a similar outage that occurred in 2020, when Garmin’s global services were hacked using ransomware, which knocked out the company’s services for several days.

The situation highlights the importance of stable software for gadgets that are becoming an increasingly integral part of everyday life.
