More than 270 people in different parts of the world have been brought to justice as a result of the extensive international operation RapTor, the purpose of which was to expose and neutralize the network of drug sales on the dark web. Law enforcement officers from the US, the European Union and other countries confiscated 200 million $, 144 kg of fentanyl and 180 firearms.

The attackers used encryption tools and cryptocurrencies to hide their illegal activities. However, joint investigations on three continents made it possible to expose even those who had been hiding for years. The US Department of Justice presented dozens of cases where drug dealers have already been convicted – in particular, in New York, California, Virginia.
Operation RapTor is the result of a long-term collection of evidence, which began with the liquidation of large darknet marketplaces: Incognito, Nemesis, Tor2Door, Bohemia, Kingdom Market. Not only administrators, but also suppliers and buyers were identified. 130 people were arrested in the USA, 42 in Germany, the remaining arrests took place in France, the Netherlands, Austria, Brazil, South Korea, Spain and Switzerland.
The operation was the biggest blow to online drug trafficking in recent times. It demonstrated that no darknet user can hope for impunity. The involvement of hundreds of government agencies and the technological superiority of law enforcement agencies show that even digital labyrinths have a way out – and the FBI is waiting for it.
