Meta has paid out over $2.3 million to cybersecurity researchers as part of its 2024 Bug Rewards program

Meta decided to expand the scope of the program to include research in the field of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI). A special focus was placed on finding vulnerabilities related to model inversion and data leakage. The bug bounty program was launched in 2011 and has paid out over $20 million to researchers since its inception; In 2024, Meta also introduced new bounty rules for vulnerabilities in its advertising tools, with a maximum base bounty of $30,000. Researchers have identified security issues in devices like the Meta Quest and Ray-Ban Stories, and the company has demonstrated these products at major conferences, including Hardwear.io USA 2024.

Meta continues to invest in collaborating with researchers around the world to improve the security of its platform; in 2025, it will host the MBBRC conference in Tokyo and unveil a new initiative focused on AI security research;
