Polish company Mudita has launched a new device on Kickstarter, the Mudita Kompakt, an e-ink phone with an OS focused on privacy and no distractions, suitable for those who want to be less dependent on technology.

The Mudita Kompakt is positioned as a phone with fewer distractions than smartphones and more advanced features than traditional phones. The device runs on MuditaOS K, an operating system based on open source Android and includes only essential apps such as an alarm clock, calendar, notepad, and meditation app. Developers especially emphasize privacy features: Mudita Kompakt is equipped with hardware switches for the microphone and camera, as well as a fingerprint scanner. The phone lacks Google services, which, according to the company, ensures no data transmission to the giant.
The phone is equipped with a 4.3-inch e-ink screen with a resolution of 800×480, which allows you to significantly save battery charge. The battery with a capacity of 3300 mAh can work for up to six days without recharging. Other features include wireless charging, dual SIM (including e-SIM) and IP-54 water and dust protection. Mudita Kompakt is powered by a quad-core MediaTek mt6761V/WB processor with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, and an 8-megapixel primary camera. The lack of 5G support reflects the company’s minimalist approach to technology.
Mudita was founded by Michal Kitzinski, who is also one of the founders of CD Projekt, known for The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077. On Kickstarter, the phone sells for $324, and shipping is scheduled for spring. After the crowdfunding campaign, the retail price will increase by 34%. Mudita Kompakt is an example of innovation that offers simplicity, privacy and minimalism and is suitable for users who want to reduce the impact of digital technology on their lives.
