The German police successfully completed the operation to eliminate the DDoS platform and arrested two people suspected of creating and operating this criminal network. The operation is part of an international initiative to combat cybercrime in various jurisdictions and is aimed at disrupting the work of DDoS services around the world.
On November 1, 2024, German police shut down Dstat, a platform that allowed custom DDoS attacks; two suspects, aged 19 and 28, were arrested and charged with both cyber attacks and illegal drug sales through another website, Flight RCS. They were charged with creating a criminal infrastructure. The investigation was carried out with the support of the Central Office for Combating Internet Crime in Frankfurt am Main, the State Criminal Police Office of Hessen and the Federal Criminal Police Office.
The arrests are part of an international initiative called “Operation PowerOff” that aims to stop DDoS attacks. Such services allow users without technical skills to direct attacks to various websites and servers, thereby disrupting their operation. Currently, a message has appeared on the Dstat website that the site has been closed by law enforcement agencies.
The arrest of Dstat administrators and the closure of the platform underline the determination of the international community in the fight against cybercrime: by limiting access to DDoS services and strengthening network protection against cyberattacks. The “Operation PowerOff” initiative produced results and continues to produce results. This is an important step towards making the internet safer for all users.
