In response to the growing need for civilian drone operators, Ukraine is implementing a new training program in seven vocational training institutions (proftechs) in different regions, including Lviv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Sumy and Chernihiv. This initiative received support from the European Union, which made it possible to purchase the necessary equipment for practical training and train qualified teachers.
The ability to operate civilian drones is key for Ukraine, especially today, when drones are widely used in agriculture, rescue operations, demining, as well as for combat damage assessment and war documenting by journalists.
The government plans to further expand the network of professional technicians and approve the educational standard for the full training of specialists in this important field. This will be part of a wider reform of vocational education, which has already attracted more than 200 institutions interested in updating their workshops and creating quality conditions for training specialists.
Conclusion
The development of quality education in Ukraine, especially in the field of the use of civilian drones, is a fundamental step in the development of human capital and meeting the country’s needs for qualified specialists. The initiative to introduce a new training program for civil drone operators shows a progressive approach to education and technological development, supported by international partners.
