Ukraine has launched TrophyLab, a platform that brings together information on Russian military equipment captured during the war. The new resource is designed to help Ukrainian specialists and international partners study Russian weapons, assess their capabilities, and develop effective countermeasures.

Over the years of the full-scale war, images of destroyed or abandoned Russian tanks have become a familiar sight. Now, however, Kyiv has decided to organize the growing amount of collected data by creating a single platform dedicated to the study of captured military equipment.

Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense announced the launch of TrophyLab late last week. According to the ministry, the new project will provide Ukraine’s partners around the world with access to valuable information about Russian military technology and weapons systems.

“From now on, the entire democratic world will have access to the secrets of Russian weapons and military equipment.”

The platform is intended to serve as a collaborative hub for engineers, researchers, laboratories, defense technology manufacturers, and international partners. Participants will be able to share research findings and jointly analyze Russian military capabilities.

TrophyLab currently contains more than 115 captured military assets grouped into 79 categories. These include missiles, aircraft, drones, electronic warfare systems, tanks, bombs, and small arms.

In addition to the physical samples, the platform hosts more than 225 scientific and technical studies related to captured equipment. The Ministry of Defense says new information is continuously supplied by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Main Directorate of Intelligence, and the Security Service of Ukraine.

Access to TrophyLab will be available to Ukrainian research institutions, military units, and defense manufacturers. Government agencies and defense companies from partner countries will also be eligible to register.

To gain access, applicants must pass a verification process. They are required to demonstrate that they have no ties to Russia and are not subject to Ukrainian sanctions.

Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, emphasized that every captured Russian weapon system can provide valuable intelligence for Ukraine’s allies.

“Every missile, drone, and vehicle captured on the battlefield is now a source of knowledge for the free world. What was meant to be the enemy’s secret advantage is being dismantled to help defend democracy.”

The creation of TrophyLab is about more than symbolism. The platform provides a structured way to study modern Russian military technology and better prepare for emerging threats. This is particularly important as experts continue to highlight Russia’s rapid advances in drones, electronic warfare systems, and other battlefield technologies.

According to the U.S.-based Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Russian forces may have suffered nearly 1.2 million casualties since February 2022. Analysts describe these losses as the highest sustained by a major power in any conflict since World War II.

At the same time, experts note that Russia continues to adapt to the realities of modern warfare, actively developing new tactics and expanding its use of unmanned systems and electronic warfare capabilities.
