A database containing more than 70 million records stolen from AT&T recently surfaced on the unofficial BreachForums marketplace.  ShinyHunters, a malware group previously known for other cyberattacks, is behind this data leak.

According to information available on BreachForums, the database was available for a small fee in virtual currency, compromising the privacy of millions of people; AT&T has denied the authenticity of the data, but researchers have confirmed its authenticity, raising serious questions about data security in the corporate sector.

According to the sellers, the database contains 73,481,539 rows. The sample provided includes full names, physical addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, Social Security Numbers (SSNs), dates of birth, and other information. The hackers claim to have deciphered the meaning of social security number and date of birth and provided them with the leaked files.

The AT&T data leak highlights the urgent need to strengthen security measures and protect personal data. The importance of robust data protection mechanisms has never been more important than in a world where cyber threats are constantly evolving. This incident is a reminder of the importance for companies of all sizes to invest in cybersecurity and protect the privacy of user data.
