The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is working to crack down on the sale of illegal RF jammers on major retail platforms, including Amazon, to ensure public safety and comply with federal law.

The FCC has confirmed an investigation into Amazon and other retailers for the marketing and sale of radio frequency jammers that could seriously threaten public safety and interfere with authorized radio communications.

The use of radio frequency jammers in the United States is prohibited by federal law due to the potential threat to emergency services and other forms of communications. However, NBC News identified 9 sellers on Amazon who were offering to sell such devices.

An investigation launched by the FCC found that Amazon and other retailers are promoting and selling jammers despite their illegality. These devices can be used to disable wireless home security systems and can be used for military purposes. The FCC emphasized the seriousness of the problem and took steps to combat the sale of illegal equipment
