Huawei is preparing a smartwatch with gesture control Huawei is working on a new technology that will change the way smartwatches are controlled
The Chinese company Huawei has patented a 3D fingerprint scanner that will allow users to control their smartwatches using gestures The company has developed a new technology that will allow users to control their smartwatches using gestures. The innovation uses a screen fully equipped with a fingerprint sensor to make the device’s interface more convenient and functional. According to the patent application, the 3D fingerprint scanner can read prints in 360° mode, which allows for gesture control. For example – touching the thumb acts as a “Back” button – swiping with the index finger initiates a call – rotating the finger clockwise can change the screen brightness or adjust the volume
This feature greatly simplifies the use of a smartwatch, especially during active sports. This is not the first time Huawei has tried something new in wearables. In previous models, the company has used a variety of control methods, including touchscreens and virtual buttons. However, 3D fingerprint scanning is a new level of interaction with the device. Patents have already been registered, but there is no guarantee that this technology will be implemented in commercial devices.
