Microsoft Teams is experiencing a problem connecting to meetings after a recent Microsoft Edge update. Due to the error, some Windows users are unable to join calls opened via a link or calendar.

Microsoft confirmed issues with Microsoft Teams because, following their most current version update of Microsoft Edge, some Windows users experience difficulty entering into a meeting. This is Incident #TM1288497. Although, these errors do not exist for everyone; they only exist under certain conditions – users may attempt to access a meeting that has been previously scheduled, or users may click a link. Under either condition, the user may experience a loss of connectivity.

The company quickly admitted to experiencing an issue with Teams. The company also described why the company experienced an issue.

“We are aware that there was a regression in the recent Edge release causing some users to crash when attempting to join meetings using Microsoft Teams.” Microsoft stated.

They also mentioned that the process of finding out what is causing the crash continues. However, until then, users should close and reopen the Teams client. For some users, closing and reopening the Teams client seems to be able to help the issue temporarily. The Microsoft teams continue to examine diagnostic data and review the most current changes to services.

“We will continue investigating…and let you know what else we learn,” the company stated.

Microsoft didn’t state how many users were affected by the issue or which locations were affected. Additionally, the incident was categorized as Advisory – meaning that the issue had a small scope or impact.

This isn’t the first glitch caused by the latest Edge updates.

Earlier last week, the company announced another glitch caused by an update to Edge. The glitch caused the ability to insert text into Team chat conversations via the right mouse button to fail. The company plans to include a fix for this glitch in the upcoming Platform Update (Incident #TM1279908).

Additionally, earlier this week, Microsoft rolled back one of their service updates after it started blocking Teams Desktop Client from launching. Users were stuck at the load-screen with an error-message and unable to open the application.

At the same time, the company is still working to address another issue – Universal Print Failures. These failures occurred after Microsoft made changes to the Microsoft Graph API. As a result, users were unable to establish shared printers.

Overall, the situation illustrates just how reliant Teams is on changes within Microsoft’s overall Ecosystem. Even a single failed update can instantly negatively impact numerous core features and cause problems for end-users.
