A hacker suspected of large-scale cybercrimes, including attacks on the FBI, Airbus and other organizations, was arrested in Brazil.
The Federal Police of Brazil conducted the “Data Breach” operation, during which the hacker responsible for a series of cyberattacks was arrested. The suspect claimed he was involved in publishing the sensitive data of more than 80,000 members of the InfraGard platform, which is used by the FBI to work with the private sector. He is also involved in the hacking of Airbus and the US National Environmental Protection Agency.
The hacker was detained in the city of Belo Horizonte, where he carried out his activities. He is known to have sold stolen data including social security numbers, passports and driving licences. Although he has not been officially named, numerous cybersecurity studies have linked him to the USDoD moniker, which has already boasted successful hacks on several occasions.
The USDoD was spotted on forums as far back as 2022 when it claimed involvement in the InfraGard platform breach. In addition, he hacked other major institutions, including Airbus. His actions attracted the attention of cyber security experts such as Crowdstrike, who helped identify him.
Brazilian police are continuing their investigation to identify other possible cyberattacks by the hacker.
