Microsoft has released update KB5060829 for Windows 11 (version 24H2) – a total of 38 changes, including taskbar improvements and the first stages of migrating settings between PCs. This is a preview package that does not contain security updates, but is already available for download via Windows Update.

Update KB5060829 is intended for testing innovations before Patch Tuesday. The most notable new features:

* PC-to-PC migration: when installing a new system, users will be able to transfer settings from a previous device (currently inactive, will be activated later).

* Reduction of taskbar buttons: more icons in a narrow space, settings via “Taskbar behavior”.

* Memory optimization: languages and components that are not used are now completely removed.

* ALT+TAB fix: freezes after exiting full-screen games no longer occur.

* Windows Hello: login certificates are updated automatically.

* Explorer.exe and Search: Fewer crashes and faster Search responsiveness.

The update installs build 26100.4484 for Windows 11 24H2.

KB5060829 is part of a series of optional monthly updates that allow users and administrators to test new features before they appear in the official release. They are not mandatory, do not contain security patches, but help prepare for a major system update. This time, the update also contains only one known issue: blurry CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) text in Chromium-based browsers at 100% zoom.

Microsoft continues to gradually prepare Windows 11 24H2 for wide deployment, focusing on stability, usability, and smooth operation. Update KB5060829 is another step towards this, and it will be useful for those who want to be the first to test new features and detect bugs before the mass release.
