Finding a location by photo can be an interesting challenge for anyone interested in geolocation and analytics. In this case, we will consider how, thanks to modern tools such as Google Lens, Yandex.Images and Google Maps, it was possible to determine the exact location of the picture of the carriage.
It is this photo that we will find.
Initially, the search began with the use of Google Lens. The tool suggested several similar decorations resembling Christmas toys, but none of them matched the desired object.
However, the first stage of the search was only the start for further analysis. The tool demonstrated its ability to recognize details, but for an accurate result it was necessary to use additional methods. The search required more effort to find the real place depicted in the photo.
Then the search continued using the “Yandex.Pictures” service. Analysis of the images produced similar results, but significant progress was made after highlighting the carriage as the main object in the photo.
This approach made it possible to obtain more relevant search results. Among the proposed images, options appeared that were much more in line with the searched location.
After following the found link, it was possible to find out that the page belongs to the Transnistrian news resource. This confirmed that the carriage shown in the photo is located in Transnistria.
At the 0:08 mark in the video, it is mentioned that the carriage was parked near the Place des Volands. This information became crucial for continuing the search.
The next step was to use Google Maps to verify the specified location. Few official Google panoramas were found at this location, but several user-generated panoramas were found. After examining one of them, it was possible to confirm that it is indeed the same place that is depicted in the original photo.
