What is doorway?

Doors and why do they still exist?

A doorway is an end-to-end site with a separate domain name and unique content that redirects visitors to another page (like a door). It is used only to attract traffic to any resource. Usually, the doorway does not contain useful information. It can have “fishy” text mixed with keywords without any logic and systematicity. Nonsensical letters for the sake of promotion in search engines and links to the author’s main project are a classic doorway to promotion in search engines and giving the site link weight. One webmaster often creates several similar pages to bring a large audience to his project, significantly increasing traffic. And this is despite the contradictory attitude of users and search engines towards doors.

Almost always, doormen break all the rules of search engines. They contain generated content densely saturated with keywords, due to this and other factors, the pages of such a site rise to the top of search engines. At first glance, attracting door traffic may seem like a good idea, because it is easy to implement, requires almost no costs and, in theory, brings a noticeable increase in traffic, while simultaneously adding weight to the donor site. But search engines do not stand still and every day they recognize and block the doors faster and faster. They live so little that sometimes they do not have time to bring any benefit. In response to the question of whether it is worth attracting door traffic, I will say that it is unnecessarily risky. “White” optimization schemes will bring much more benefit to the resource in general and will increase traffic in the long run more strongly than the dark ones.

Application of doors in SEO

Optimization with the help of portals is considered a “black” method of SEO. Developers of search engines regularly release algorithm updates and think of new mechanisms to protect against web portals.

All SEO indicators will be displayed in the appropriate form on end-to-end pages, which will essentially mean perfect optimization for the main site. In addition, creating such a chain of redirecting pages does not require special skills. Time costs are also minimal. In general, the process can be partially automated, but more on that later.

Site optimization specialists use this method of promotion by abusing search engine algorithms. Google focuses on keywords when ranking search results. The more repeated queries a resource contains, the more likely it is to appear in the top search positions.

At the same time, the excess of keywords and the lack of clear logic in the development and filling of the site can spoil the reputation of the resource among robots that analyze and index every page on the network. Therefore, unscrupulous webmasters use Google’s ranking features, creating sources of keywords in the form of useless sites, attracting traffic to the main site and practically not sacrificing its reputation.

Advantages of doors

I’ve said several times that door traffic is a controversial thing, but it has a number of advantages.

  • The owner of the resource can get a lot of traffic for free. The costs will be only the creation of the page (and then you can use a free VDS/VPS, get a free domain and spend a penny on hosting your door).

  • With “correct” use, it allows you to quickly increase the audience and significantly increase the weight of the page.

  • You don’t need to put effort into proper optimization of the main site. You can focus on the quality and delivery of content instead of implementing keywords and counting statistics.

Types of doors

There are several typification options. By content, by structure (fullness) and by method of implementation. Let’s consider all three in more detail. Let’s start with what is a redirect site in its basic form.

1. The most common type is a text doorway. This is a page that contains text, keywords, and links. Other content is often missing.

2. There are doors based on media content. For example, sites with mp3 files with links to the main resource or channel.

3. There are doors taking into account free resources. This could be a YouTube video with “key” in the title and a link to the main resource in the description.

The text version is the most effective, but it is tracked and banned faster.

Typing by page structure

This classification is based on how “legal” a doorway is in relation to the rules of search engines. Here there is a division into three ranks.

White doorway. The site, in addition to its main function (saving a link to the advertised resource), performs additional functions. That is, there is something useful in it. Unique material, nice decoration. Compliance with network standards, not aggressive optimization.

Gray. A site that transmits link weight. Its content is to store links to the main page in the text. Such a dorvey is not optimized well enough, so it rarely makes it to the top of search results. Instead, due to the publication of links on various forums, it is possible to raise traffic.

Black. A site that instantly redirects to the main resource on the first visit. It contains keywords for the search engine to get to the top positions in the output and from there to redirect visitors to another page. Such doors can be detected in a couple of days and banned.

The work of doors with the Google search system

I’ve mentioned before that Google has a negative attitude towards doorkeepers. The developers of the system wage an eternal struggle with such resources and in every way interfere with the development of sites that “spin” due to redirection and abuse of algorithms. Let’s consider more detailed methods to understand how to extend the life of your doors in Google.

The Ukrainian version of the search engine less often blocks sites with “fishy” text, because it does not always recognize automatically generated and meaningless content. It may seem quite normal. Therefore, you should not worry about the contents of the door. The main thing is to optimize it and move it up in terms of ranking. It is worth taking care that the bogus site remains indexed for at least a month, because only then can you count on receiving traffic from the Google search engine. And you will also need backlinks. You will have to spam on unmoderated forums and in comments to various posts.

Doors and affiliate programs

Some users use optimized pages to redirect visitors to affiliate links. There is such a thing as affiliate programs. When a person cooperates with a brand and owns a link to a page, the transition through which brings him money. That is, the user refers a new client (including a potential one) to the company and receives a reward for it.

In order not to invent complex schemes for the distribution of partner links, you can create doorways optimized to reach the top lines of search results and configure them to redirect to the partners’ resource. There is an opportunity to multiply traffic and your income, if it is not prohibited by the affiliate program.

The text is broken and not always correct, but it is unique enough to pop up in the search results if there are relevant key queries. Another variation is to completely copy the content from the donor site with a reference to it as the source of the material. However, this scheme rarely works. Yandex easily recognizes such pages and blocks them. It is also possible to collect pieces of content from several donors and insert them into the pit in unlimited quantities. But these filling options have been done manually for a long time. There are generators for this.
